I felt like I was there with all the mentions. :) The conversation will still be current next week since the AFTRA vote comes back (I think) on the 8th.

Phil.... California IS NOT a right to work state, by the way!!! If CA and NY were right to work there would be no Screen Actors Guild or AFTRA.
Here's a map -
http://www.nrtw.org/rtws.htm

PLEASE vote no! It's just like DVD - If they give us nothing now - why do we think they'll give us increases in three years once they know we have no leverage?

RE: AFTRA vs. SAG.... It isn't artist vs. artist. It's artist (SAG) vs. a few senior employees and vested broadcasters who care more about protecting the institution (AFTRA) than their members.

If AFTRA's contract goes forward, producers will go with the cheapie AFTRA deal (it'll become the SAG deal). ALL internet production will be non-union... networks are expected to start putting their pilots on-line first and it's gonna lose a lot of people a lot of decently paying work and residuals. In a few years they're gonna be calling all networks 'internet' services to get around our agreements. They will also know forever that SAG has no teeth. NO tells AFTRA that they can't fuck with our careers.

We need something real in place so they can't just lock us out of the equation as media delivered over the internet continues to grow.

Rock on,
David

Wow, I couldn't disagree with you more about Gone, Baby, Gone. I didn't feel the casting was bad at all. I'm one of those "idiots" that didn't like Mystic River. I know you say that the performances were heightened and that was intentional, but making it intentional doesn't make how overdone the performances are okay. Gone, Baby, Gone for me is definitely the better film.

Do you guys get to vote on best actor/director, etc... just curious since you guys said that those who vote are members of the Union in the business.

Great podcast as per usual. I am still saddened by Heath's death but it may not have been because he was taking drugs...which also goes to show how the media exagerates news without even knowing the facts behind what they are announcing.

And i do hope Johnny Depp wins for best actor, it is going to be the only reason for tuning in on the Oscars (if the show will be broadcast)

I forgot. Dean, it's possible we'll be coming to your show in Swindon. It's not too far from Lisa and I have enough time to arrange things. I'm even thinking about taking a course to get over my fear of flying. Just to see a show....Well that's not all true, lol.

You really sound ill Phil. Hope you feel better soon.
I'm shocked to hear the story about that dog. Having dogs myself and having worked at an animal shelter for twelve years it's beyond me how this can happen. I've signed the petition and put the link on our Muldersrefuge site. I hope the poor dog will find a great new home and Jamie will keep her job. That mayor should be fired though. No heart.
Say Phil, your coughing sounds like mine, still I don't think it's possible I gave you my bronchitis. Poor man. I feel so sorry for you. Stay warm and eat CHICKEN soup!! A natural medicin!

Regarding the sides used for auditions, I have read somewhere (I can't remember where, it might have been an interview with Roberto Orci on Trekmovie.com) that the producers actually used portions of old Star Trek novels for casting. So... that should allay some fears over the story.

Rub some movie funk on it, and keep up the pod casting.

Dean,
Listened to your Roswell trip show and heard you and co-host discuss when would there be a "good" documentary be out on the UFO subject. Well, its there now. I just interviewed James Fox, Exec. Producer of "Out of the Blue", the most kick-ass documentary I've ever seen. (and I've seen a lot of em') If you guys would like to get a copy and check it out and perhaps talk to James, let me know and I will put you in touch.

Yes, this fan believes Gary Oldman is sexy hot. Very. Intensely edible.

Oh, and welcome to the FPM family. Love your podcast.

Just started listening to the show - like it a lot. In this episode, you said that films did not make money (using Forest Gump as an example). I don't understand that. Could you elaborate on how that's even possible? According to Box Office Mojo it made Worldwide: $677,387,716. How is that not a profitable movie? Any explanation would be appreciated.

Thanks

Thank you for continuing to speak out and seek the truth behind the events of 9/11. "Improbable Collapse" is a great film and I am glad to see you promoting it. Hopefully your courage will inspire others to speak out as well.

Have you ever thought of starting a Hollywood for 9/11 Truth organization?

Thanks again! Please keep it up!
